Consultations

Open communication with industry and insurance consumers is one of the ways in which RIBO achieves its mandate to protect and advocate on behalf of the Ontario public.

Consultations are an important tool to better understand how proposed regulatory changes could impact licensees and the public, ensuring transparency and accountability in RIBO’s decision-making processes.

Consultations allow for:

• Industry collaboration, which provides valuable advice and feedback on how to enhance public protection while ensuring that RIBO guidance reflects industry realities.
• Collaboration with the public, which ensures that proposals for consultation align with the consumer outcomes RIBO is striving to achieve, including protecting the public interest during insurance transactions with RIBO licensees.

The Consultation Process

Once a consultation begins, RIBO will provide explanatory materials about proposed changes. You will be provided with the opportunity to submit feedback. Any feedback provided to RIBO may be subject to Freedom of Information requests.

After the consultation period closes, we analyze responses and incorporate the feedback into subsequent policy decisions.
