RIBO Council serves as a board of directors and is responsible for the governance of the organization. This means that the Council is responsible for hiring and oversight of the CEO, establishing strategic plans for the organization, developing and approving policy, and ensuring the organization is operating in line with the direction and policies set by Council, legal requirements, and good business practices.
Council further oversees the development and implementation of regulations and ensures that the regulatory framework evolves with market changes and consumer needs.
The thirteen member Council is comprised of nine brokers elected from amongst the profession, and four public members appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council.
