Course Outline: The objective of this seminar is to bring awareness to the asbestos hazards that are both regulated under the legislation as well as those issues that pose a health risk to persons entering or working in impacted buildings. The outline of topics to be discussed is: Asbestos – understanding what asbestos is and what types of building materials contain asbestos and the regulation governing removal and the health effects from exposure What is asbestos and why was it used in the construction industry? Where is asbestos found in buildings? What are the varied health effects involved in asbestos exposure? What are the regulations presently in place related to managing or abating asbestos in the province? (As each province is different) This 1.5-hour seminar will bring a basic understanding of some the of hazards present in buildings that have had an insurance related loss or for coverage determination. Attendance will be taken in person and online.
