This page applies to the renewal of individual broker licenses. If you are a Principal Broker you will need to complete your individual renewal in addition to your firm renewal. For information on firm renewals, please see our dedicated How to Renew for Firms page.

All individuals are required to complete their own licenses. The renewal process is completed entirely online.

Renewals are only accepted during the annual Renewal Period. For the 2023-24 license year, the Renewal Period is from Tuesday August 1st, 2023, to Thursday, August 31, 2023. A grace period of one month is offered allowing renewals to be completed by Saturday, September 30, 2023. See also When to Renew

The renewal process consists of four main steps.

  1. Logging into the Membership Portal
  2. Verifying and attesting to compliance with RIBO standards over the past license year
  3. Payment of the annual license fee (If not on Bulk Payment for your brokerage.)
  4. Printing your new license

Before you begin, we recommend that you review the Renewal Checklist to ensure that you have all required information on hand to complete the renewal process.

Step 1. Logging into the Membership Portal

Note: It highly recommended that you use a computer to complete your renewal rather than a mobile device.

To access the Membership Portal visit http://membership.ribo.com or select MEMBER LOGIN in the top banner on any page on the RIBO website.

You may use either your License/Registration Number or your Primary Email Address on file in the Login field.

For more information on gaining access to the Membership Portal including password reset information please visit the Access to the Membership Portal page.

Step 2. Verifying and attesting to compliance with RIBO standards

In this step you will be prompted to:

  • Verify/update your contact information.
  • Verify/update your education and credentials.
  • Confirm your employment information.
  • Answer a series of questions relevant to your license.
  • Attest to the accuracy of the information provided.

Section 3(a) of RIBO Bylaw 20 requires that you notify RIBO of any changes to any information filed with RIBO. You are expected to provide RIBO information about any changes reported on your renewal application within 30 days of completing your renewal.  If you answered yes to any questions about changes to your license or registration information, please send an email with details within 30 days of completing the renewal questions to: licensing@ribo.com

A video walk through of this aspect of the renewal process is shown below.

Step 3. Payment of the annual license fee

Once you complete step 2 you will prompted to pay the annual fee (See also Fees and Payments).

Some brokerages pay this fee for their brokers. We have made this easy by providing a bulk payment option for brokerages. If your firm has subscribed to the bulk payment option and has/will be paying on your behalf, you will not be prompted for payment, however it is your responsibility to follow up with your employer, or check back in the Membership Portal to ensure payment has been made on your behalf.

Please note, if you own a non-active firm you must pay for the non-active firm license as it is not included in the firm’s bulk payment. Failure to pay the fee will result in the non-active firm being deregistered.

Step 4. Printing your new license

Once your renewal is completed and your payment has been made (either by you or your firm), you will be able to print your license for the coming year. You will only be able to print your license if all steps of the renewal process have been satisfactorily competed as such this is your best way to confirm you’re your renewal is compete.

To print your license, select, ANNUAL RENEWAL > Membership History and select the current renewal term. You will find options to print your renewal form, license and receipt.
