All license holders who obtained their license prior to July 1, 2023, are required to complete the renewal process by August 31, 2023.

If you first obtained your new RIBO license in the months of July, August or September of 2023, you do not need to renew at this time. Your license will expire on September 30, 2024 and you will need to renew during the 2024 renewal period. This applies to both individuals and firms.

Continuing Education for New Licensees

RIBO requires licensees obtain  8 hours of continuing education every year between October1st and September 30th. Individuals are exempted for the remainder of the license year in the first year that they were registered.

During the renewal process you will be asked if you have completed all continuing education hours for the year. As someone in their first license year, your required number of hours is zero. As such you may accurately indicate that your hours are completed even if you have not completed any CE activities.

Getting ready for your first renewal

We recommend that prior to beginning the renewal process you first.

1.           Make sure you have everything you will need to renew by reviewing the Renewal Prep Checklist for Individuals

2.           Review the renewal process for individuals
