Participate in RIBO’s Exam Question Writing Workshop

Are you interested in playing a vital role in shaping the future of insurance education and licensing in Ontario?

The Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario (RIBO) is looking to assemble a small, well-rounded group of professionals from various insurance broker licensing levels, educational backgrounds, and industry roles to join our writing workshop. Together, subject matter experts will help to develop licensing exam questions, which are also known as ‘items.’

These workshops ensure that exam content is accurate, relevant, and reflective of current industry practices. Your contribution will help maintain the integrity and fairness of RIBO licensing exams, ensuring they properly assess the knowledge and skills new brokers require to successfully serve the public in an evolving insurance industry.

In the workshop, you will:

• Learn how to create valid, fair, and psychometrically sound questions
• Collaborate with peers to create and refine exam questions aligned with RIBO’s Competency Framework and RIBO’s Item Writing Guideline
• Engage in discussions with experienced professionals to ensure exam content reflects practical industry knowledge
• Discover how questions are reviewed, tested, and validated for fairness and reliability.

Item writers will be compensated for their time. For those who require it, compensation for travel and lodging may be available. Compensation and expense reimbursement will be provided and may vary by workshop format.

Interested participants will be added to our live recruitment pool for item writers. We will be holding different workshops throughout the year. Timing and participant selection will vary.
