RIBO Response to Current Provincial Government Lockdown Measures

In response to the current lockdown, RIBO will be making the following changes to certain Registration and Qualification processes:

Application for Licensing Exams:

RIBO has contracted with the Insurance Institute of Ontario and the Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario (IBAO) to administer select RIBO examinations. For information on self-registration see our Examinations Page

Due to the pandemic, in-person licensing exams remain suspended at the RIBO offices. Online exams are available through the Insurance Institute of Canada (contact exams@insuranceinstitute.ca for more information). RIBO is also working with the IBAO and other providers to support limited in-person exams where permitted. For example, IBAO is willing to coordinate and host in person exams for candidates who are already employed by brokerages. These exams would take place in brokerage offices.  Brokerages can register their exam candidates [here].

Criminal Record Checks

While RIBO will accept criminal record verification provided by the police or other third parties, we have partnered with Sterling BackCheck to provide a seamless and convenient means of submitting your criminal record check. A current criminal record check must be submitted to RIBO electronically with the license application following completion of your required examination(s). Note: Please maintain all original copies.

Registrations/Reinstatements:

All required documentation for registration/reinstatements should be sent together to tracy@ribo.com and copy erica@ribo.com and should include your electronic funds payment (direct deposit) confirmation.

Continuing Education Accreditation

The process for reviewing CE accreditation applications is now entirely online. All requests for CE accreditation should utilize the online forms available [here]. Materials provided in support of an application should be provided as part of your online submission.

Payments

Currently, we are accepting direct deposits for payments for examination fees, registration/reinstatement fees and CE accreditation fees.
